Canoe the New Outfitters will primarily service the New River from Claytor Lake Dam to Glen Lyn, Virginia. This section of the New River offers some of the finest smallmouth fishing in the country. In addition to excellent fishing opportunities, there are numerous rapids in the Class I-II range and several strong Class II rapids. Novice to experienced boaters will find the New River a beautiful and challenging river to canoe, raft, and kayak, and birdwatchers will relish the Virginia Birding and Wildlife Trail that has several site nominations along this portion of river.
